Description

The stomach is largely responsible for the digestion of proteins and the conversion of minerals into an absorbable state. The stomach secretes gastric acid, hydrochloric acid (HCL) and various hormones and enzymes. Gastric acid secretions decrease with age and low gastric acid, or hypochlorhydria, is associated with many diseases and symptoms of disease. This is not surprising, as poor or insufficient digestion leads to nutrient deficiencies, poor elimination and toxic overload.

Betaine HCI: Increases the acidity of the stomach so the protein digesting enzyme, pepsin can be activated.

Pepsin: Breaks down protein into smaller units (polypeptides) in the stomach, preparing them for further breakdown and absorption in the small intestine.

Protease: Is an enzyme released by the pancreas into the small intestine for the digestion of proteins.

Glutamic Acid: An amino acid that has been shown to be important for the integrity of the mucosal lining of the stomach. Glutamic acid has been used therapeutically to treat peptic ulcers.
